Chitrakoot and Maihar are two significant religious and historical sites in Madhya Pradesh, India, both known for their connection to Hindu mythology and the epic Ramayana. Chitrakoot is famous as the place where Lord Rama, his wife Sita, and his brother Lakshmana are believed to have spent a significant part of their 14-year exile. Maihar, on the other hand, is renowned for the Maa Sharda Temple, a Shakti Peetha located atop a hill, accessible by climbing more than 1000 stairs.
