Haridwar

Haridwar, known as the "Gateway to the Gods," is a major Hindu pilgrimage site and one of the seven holiest cities in India. It is located where the Ganga River enters the Indo-Gangetic plains, making it a significant location for religious rituals and spiritual experiences. The city is famous for its temples, ashrams, and the nightly Ganga aarti ceremony at Har Ki Pauri ghat, where thousands of devotees float lamps on the river.

On the banks of the Ganges River, Haridwar is considered the holiest city in the state of Uttarakhand. It's best known for its nightly aarti (prayer) ceremony on the banks of the river when pilgrims float tiny lamps out into the water, creating an enchanting sight.

Haridwar is one of the first towns where Ganga emerges from the mountains to touch the planes. And that's why the water is crystal clear and cool. Lush green forests and small ponds add to the scenic beauty of this holy land. The Rajaji National Park is just 10 kms from Haridwar.
